For God so loved the world, that he gave his only-begotten Son, that whosoever believes on him may not perish, but have life eternal (John 3: 16). Jesus says to him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father unless by me (John 14: 6). So if any one [be] in Christ, [there is] a new creation; the old things have passed away; behold all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5: 17). "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him (1 John 2:15)." And this is the witness, that God has given to us eternal life; and this life is in his Son. He that has the Son has life: he that has not the Son of God has not life (1 John 5: 11-12). Come to me, all ye who labour
and are burdened, and *I* will give you rest.
For what does a man profit, if he should gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul (Matthew 16: 26)? For thus saith the Lord Jehovah,
the Holy One of Israel: In returning and rest shall ye be saved, in quietness
and confidence shall be your strength (Isaiah 30:
15).
