Dear family and friends,
Thanksgiving is a joyful day for Christians. On September 6, 1620, a group of English Puritans, Christians who sincerely followed the teachings of the Bible and who faced severe persecution for their faith, set sail for America on the wooden ship Mayflower. For sixty-six days and nights on the cold Atlantic they battled fatigue, hunger and disease, and at last they reached Plymouth in North America.
Their first winter at Plymouth, many of them suffered from hunger and cold, and they could only look to God for provision and care. The next spring, God moved the local chief Massasoit, who led kind-hearted Native Americans to give the Pilgrims seed grain and to teach them to hunt, farm and fish.
That year, with the help of the Native Americans, they reaped a great harvest. Governor William Bradford proposed a festival to celebrate the harvest and to thank God for His gifts and His care in every way, and also to strengthen their friendship with the Native Americans. So in the autumn of 1621 the Pilgrims and ninety Native Americans who came with Massasoit gathered to celebrate the first Thanksgiving in American history.
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) In every year, every day, and every moment of our lives, we ought to be thankful. We thank the Lord Jesus Christ, who became flesh and came to earth, and gave His life and shed His blood on the cross to finish the work of redemption, so that by believing in Him we are saved by grace. We also thank God for the breath of life, for rain and sunshine, and for His constant keeping and care. “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16–18)
You and your family are warmly invited to spend this Thanksgiving with us, Thursday, November 26, 2026 at 4:00 PM. We hope that through the gospel message you will meet and receive the Savior of life, and find the promise of eternal life and true peace and joy. May God bless you.
