Jesus is the Way
Thomas said, “Lord, how do we know the way?”
Jesus said to him, “I am the way…”John 14:5–6
“I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
How do we know the way?
The way to live, and the way to God.
Every one of us is trying to find our way. We choose a career, raise a family, pursue our goals, and still wonder from time to time whether the path we are on is a good one and where it will finally lead us. How do we really know the way?
Jesus, on the night before He went to the cross, told His disciples that He was going to prepare a place for them. Then, His disciple Thomas asked an honest question: “Lord, we do not know where You are going. How can we know the way?” In His response Jesus did not hand him a map or a list of rules. He offered him a Person: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:5–6)
The way to live
Jesus shows us what a human life was created to be: honest, loving, unafraid, full of purpose. And He gives us His own life so that we can actually live it.
The way to God
Our sin has separated us from the God who made us, and no effort of ours can close that distance. Jesus died on the cross for our sins and rose again, opening the way home to the Father for everyone who believes in Him.
What did Jesus mean when He said that He Himself is the way? What does it mean for Him to be the way in our lives today? Come and hear how Thomas’s question was answered, and what he said when he finally saw the risen Jesus for himself.
